Zarif: Iran not to gift Trump by exiting JCPOA

IRNA Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif underlined that Tehran will not allow US President Donald Trump to benefit from the Islamic Republic's exit from the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA).

'The JCPOA should have removed obstacles hindering Iran's economic development and turn Iran's nuclear program from a forbidden program to an acceptable one,' Zarif said in an Interview with Persian-language Iran newspaper.

Zarif pointed to new US President Donald Trump's policies vis--vis Iran, and said, 'Trump's policies towards Iran are still being formed.'

The foreign minister reiterated that the US government has never had good relations with Iran and they are influenced by pressure groups.

Zarif pointed to the recent joint meeting between Iran and the representatives of the Group 5+1 (the US, Russia, China, France and Britain plus Germany), and said the G5+1 members have agreed to remain committed to the JCPOA.

He reiterated the benchmark for continuing cooperation with the western countries is still the guidelines of the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, and said the US policies have so far been hostile towards Iran.
