Iran, Vietnam keen on boosting trade ties in post-sanctions era

July 27, The Iran Project The ninth joint economic commission of Iran and Vietnam has been a great opportunity for the two countries that are seeking to expand their trade ties after the implementation of the JCPOA.

In the 9th joint economic commission of Iran and Vietnam which was held on July 16 in Tehran, new chapter of trade ties was opened between the two countries during the post-sanctions era.

Visiting Irans Minister of Industry, Mine and Trade Mohammad Reza Nematzadeh on the sidelines of the meeting, Vietnamese Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Nguyen Xuan Cuong said Tehran and Hanoi can complement each others economy and trade through positive and constructive cooperation, stressing the two countries' determination to increase the value of their trade turnover up to $2 billion.

Iranian and Vietnamese ministers inked a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on last Sunday in Tehran for accelerating resumption of banking cooperation between the two countries.

Also in the meeting, President of Trade Promotion Organization of Iran Mojtaba Khosrotaj pointed to Vietnam's needs to Iranian goods, saying Islamic Republic has increasingly exported various goods to Hanoi among which are petrochemicals, metals, food and construction products.

Khosrotaj emphasized on the two countries' cooperation in fisheries and agriculture, adding we are able to export all kinds of fish to Vietnam.

Elsewhere in his remarks, he said Iran-Vietnam can boost their economic relations by signing the preferential trade agreement (PTA) which reduces tariff barriers between the two countries.

In addition, President of Trade Promotion Organization of Iran referred to facilitating visa issuance and developing tourism industry as other issues the two countries discussed in Iran-Vietnam 9th joint economic commission.
