Iran, Ukraine agree to remove visa regime

FNA- Iranian and Ukrainian consular delegations in a meeting in Kiev agreed to facilitate visa issuance process.

During the meeting in Ukraine's capital on Monday, both sides stressed on the importance of holding consular consultations and its key role in developing ties in all fields.

Iran and Ukraine reviewed ways to promote people-to-people relations such as group visa waiver, completing the process of removing diplomatic and service visas, mutual issuance of visa on arrival especially for merchants and business people, students, academics, artists and sports people.

In a relevant development in May 2016, Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif called on Ukraine to provide more consular facilities for Iran's businessmen and industrialists visiting the European country.

The Iranian foreign minister made the remarks in a meeting with his Ukrainian counterpart Pavlo Klimkin in Tehran.

"By increasing the consultations between the Iranian and Ukrainian officials and facilitating issuance of visas for Iranian industrialists and businessmen, I hope the two countries could broaden their relations," Zarif said, reminding vast capacities for Tehran-Kiev cooperation in different areas of higher education, science, technology, energy, power plants, renewable energies and agriculture.

The Iranian foreign minister said that the nuclear agreement between Tehran and the six world powers (the US, Russia, China, France, Britain and Germany) has paved the way for boosting economic and industrial cooperation between the two countries.

Iran has been seeking to bolster ties with Eastern Europe, specially Ukraine, in all the different industrial, political, economic and cultural spheres in the last few years.
