Total deal signaling world to work with Iran: MP

RNA Iran's deal with the French energy giant Total is a turning point in ties with European Union in energy sector and a signal to the world stats to work with Iran, said a senior Iranian MP.

Member of National Security and Foreign Policy Committee of Irans Parliament (Majlis) Ali Reza Rahimi said that Totals presence in Iran, along with China, in addition to the significant role it can play in developing Assalouyeh oil and gas phases, also sends a positive message to the world that the most respected companies are honorably pursuing their ties with Iran.

Irans National Oil Company (NIOC) on July 3 signed a multi-billion-dollar agreement with an international consortium, headed by Total, to develop the phase 11 of the South Pars gas field.

The 4.8 billion-dollar deal is the first major gas and oil agreement since anti-Iran sanction relief after the implementation of the historic nuclear agreement between Iran and world major powers (the permanent United Nations Security council members plus Germany) in 2015.
