Iranian envoy discusses bilateral ties with Italian, Iraqi envoys

IRNA — Iranian ambassador to Iraq, Iraj Masjedi in separate meetings with Italian envoy in Iraq and Deputy Foreign Minister of Iraq Nazar Khairallah reviewed regional, international issues.

During the meeting between Iranian and Italian ambassadors, both sides stressed on taking advantage of diplomatic ways to solve regional problems.

Meanwhile, in a meeting with Iraqi deputy FM, Masjedi voiced congratulations on recent victories of Iraqi forces.

Iraqi and Italian diplomats also called for developing bilateral ties with Islamic Republic of Iran.

Iraqi forces captured on June 29, the wrecked historic mosque of Mosul in which Daesh terrorist group proclaimed its self-styled ‘caliphate’ three years ago.

Taking the Grand al-Nuri Mosque gives a symbolic victory to the Iraqi forces who have been battling for more than eight months to re-capture Mosul, the northern city that served as Daesh’s de-facto capital in Iraq.
