Iran expresses concern over escalation of tensions in Nagorno-Karabakh

IRNA Foreign Ministry Spokesman Bahram Qasemi expressed concern over the escalation of tensions in the Nagorno-Karabakh region and noted that increase of conflicts is not at the interest Azeri and Armenian people.


Spokesman voiced hope for increase of peace and stability in the region and cautioned about enemy plots for provoking violence.

Iran will spare no efforts to decrease tensions in this region, the spokesman added.

Speaking about Irans scenarios to reciprocate the US President Donald Trumps anti-Iranian measures, he noted that it is soon to talk about the issue.

Commenting on the US President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin agreement on establishment of de-escalation zones in the Syrian southern regions, Qasemi noted that no agreement could be reached without considering the regions realities.

He rejected alleged reports on Irans spying of its opposition groups in Germany, he rejected the reports, adding that Tehran and Berlin enjoy good relations.

Speaking on the issue of fifth round of Syrian talks in Syria, Qasemi noted that reaching agreement on de-escalation zones takes time.

He referred to the rift among some Persian Gulf littoral states and noted that Iran has done its best to decrease tensions in the region.

In case of four Iranian diplomats kidnapped in Lebanon in 1982, he said that Foreign Ministry would follow the case through its channels.
