Sputnik - Syrian military expert, Brigadier General Muhammed Issa told Sputnik that the idea of President Bashar Assad's ousting has been abandoned by the Syrians amid the army's recent advance.

"The plan ofBashar Assad's overthrow is completely impossible asnow the Syrian army is strong asever," Muhammed Issa told Sputnik Arabic.

According tohim, the Syrian people are happy aboutthat, while militants fear it asthey are no longer advancing onthe battlefield.

This was the third attack bythe coalition onDamascus' allies inthe area. The coalition targeted a drone and trucks withweapons.

The Russian Defense Ministry slammed the move, saying that it seems that the US-led coalition is more interested inbombing the Syrian army instead offighting terrorists. This week, the United States transferred two High Mobility Artillery Rocket System (HIMARS) multiple-launch rocket systems fromJordan. The systems were deployed atthe US special operations forces base nearal-Tanf located 11 miles fromthe Jordanian border. Russian Foreign Ministry condemned the move, saying that the HIMARS missile systems could strike Syrian pro-government forces inthe area.

Issa said he believes that the US bombings are allegedly linked toa gas pipeline fromthe Persian Gulf toEurope and Turkey.
"The US missile attack is nothing more thana statement ofits position onthe creation ofa Daesh quasi-state, which should appear alongthe Syrian-Iraqi border upto Jordan. According tothe plot, this formation should cut Syria fromIraq and Iran and turn it intoan insignificant small state inthe Middle East. And throughthe territory ofthis quasi-state, a gas pipeline fromQatar and Saudi Arabia toTurkey and Europe must be laid," the Syrian expert noted.

Issa said that the Syrian army actively opposes the implementation ofsuch a plan asthe government troops have been transfered tothe border withIraq, adding that the fight toliberate al-Tanf is also underway.

According tothe general, there will be no direct clash ofthe Syrian army withthe US troops, but "if it is necessary, the Syrian army is ready torepel an enemy's attack onthe Syrian land."
