Najafi: US should remain committed to JCPOA's pledges

IRNA - Iran's Ambassador and permanent representative in International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Reza Najafi said on Wednesday that the US should remain committed to its pledges with regard to sound implementation of the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA).

A great majority of the Board of Governors' members supports the continuation of Iran's nuclear program within JCPOA, he said.

Speaking to reporters, he said talks on Irans nuclear program was short at today's meeting of the Board of Governors which indicates that the JCPOA is on its right track and there is no problem to this end.

In our statement, we appreciate those who sympathized with Iran for the recent terrorist attacks in Tehran, he said.

Iran has declared that it continues its peaceful nuclear program within JCPOA framework and the recent report by the IAEA proves that Iran has fulfilled all its pledges respectively, he said.

Iran has underlined that continuation of the JCOPA is subject to sound implementation of the accord by the other side, i.e. G5+1 and has stipulated that Iran does not accept the US approach as the country should remain committed to its pledges, Najafi said.

On recent allegations made by the Zionist regime he said Iran for many times has underlined that the Zionist regime clandestinely develop its nuclear weapon and they cannot talk about other members of the IAEA as their nuclear programs and weapons are regarded as a serious threat to global peace and security.

On sales of Irans nuclear heavy water, he said the issue has been predicted at JCPOA and Iran is obliged to sell its heavy water exceeding 130 kilograms to the international market, but to the best offer.

Seasonal IAEA Board of Governors will be continued till Friday in which the latest reports delivered by Amano on monitoring of Iran's nuclear programs will be examined.

The second report in the meeting will be about Iran's nuclear-related activities in 2017 themed 'Verification and Monitoring of Iran's nuclear program according to resolution UNSC 2231 which was released on Friday, June the 2nd, and was put at the disposal of the IAEA Board of Governors.

Earlier reports underlined that Iran continues its peaceful nuclear activities within the JCPOA accord.

International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Director General Yukiya Amano on Monday confirmed that Iran will ship 20 tons of its heavy water reserves in the near future.

Speaking to reporters in a press conference, he said our information indicates that Iran will ship 20 tons of its heavy water overseas in the near future, but we are not allowed to say where it goes.

Any negative understanding of IAEA's reports will be regarded as misunderstanding, he said.

Amano said that IAEA is to continue its verification to make sure non-deviation of Irans nuclear materials which should be based on IAEA safeguard agreement and assessment on non-existence of such materials and undeclared nuclear activities will be underway.

Quarterly meeting of the IAEA Board of Governors will continue till Friday in which the latest reports delivered by Amano on monitoring of Iran nuclear programs will be examined.
