ISIL leader al-Baghdadi flees Mosul as terrorists are liquidated

MNA A representative of the Democratic Party of Kurdistan in Mosul, Said Mamuziny, told Sputnik Turkey that the leader of ISIL, Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi, has escaped the Iraqi city of Mosul as the fall of the city nears.


Al-Baghdadi has allegedly fled tothe Syrian border. It is reported that only four quarters ofMosul are currently underISIL control. The rest ofthe city has been liberated.

Mamuziny told Sputnik Turkey, Baghdadi has fled fromMosul towardthe Syrian border. Presumably he is inthe area betweenDeir ez-Zor and the Iraqi border. Many emirs ofDaesh are also fleeing the city. One ofthe emirs, who is ofDanish descent, Bely Tan Musuli, was killed inthe Muhendis quarter.

The representative further said that another emir ofISIL, a citizen ofDenmark named Humany, has managed toescape fromMosul.

However, most ofthe foreign emirs and militants ofISILhave been liquidated.

Some mix withthe local population and try tosneak outfrom the city. There are those who manage toescape toSyria. When government forces liberate new quarters inthe city, the terrorists shave their beards, dress incivilian clothes and flee, Mamuziny said.

He added that beforefleeing Mosul, the terrorists destroy all documents and papers relating tothe activities ofthe organization.

The US-led coalition and Iraqi forces began the offensive toliberate Mosul fromISILinOctober 2016 and freed the citys eastern part inlate January. The followingmonth Iraqi forces continued the operation toliberate the western part ofMosul.
