Int値 confab on nephrology opens in Shiraz

IRNA The 16th International Congress of Nephrology, Dialysis and Transplantation kicked off here on Tuesday evening in Shiraz, capital city of southern Iranian province of Fars.


Simultaneously, the 3rd International Congress of Organ Transplantation started work in Shiraz on May 16 for four days.

A number of medical specialists from Iran and 20 other world countries have attended the Shiraz medical events.

The two medical conferences are to discuss the latest achievements in nephrology, kidney and liver transplant in particular.

Executive secretary of the congress Mohsen Nafar told IRNA that foreign experts attending the event are from US, Japan, Spain, Italy, Lebanon, Pakistan, Syria, Canada and Switzerland.

Also, the dean of Shiraz University of Medical Sciences Mohammad-Hadi Imaniyeh addressed the opening ceremony of the international medical congress, calling on people to change their lifestyle in order to be healthy.

Shiraz is the forefront at the liver transplant and has a special position in the world in the area, Imaniyeh said.

He went on to say that Shiraz stood first in the world in the past Iranian calendar year ending on March 20, 2017, regarding the number of liver transplant carried out here which was 600 cases.

He concluded that the figures even in the prominent medical centers including those in the UK and the US have been lower than the number of kidney transpants performed in Shiraz.
