Majlis commission to investigate Mirjaveh incident

IRNA A senior Iranian lawmaker said here on Tuesday that Majlis National Security and Foreign Policy Commission is to investigate the recent Iran-Pakistan border incident and Pakistani pilgrims sit-in at Taftan border region.

Spokesman of Majlis National Security and Foreign Policy Commission Hossein Naqavi-Hosseini made the remarks in an interview with IRNA.

In the meeting held on Tuesday attended by the commission members, it was decided that the lawmakers travel to the southeastern province of Sistan-Balouchestan, hold special meetings with officials in charge of boosting border security and scrutinize the Mirjaveh incident, the MP said.

At least ten Iranian border guards were martyred by terrorists near Pakistan border in southeastern province of Sistan-Balouchestan on April 26, while patrolling at the zero border point. The terrorists fled to Pakistans territories after killing the Iranian border guards in an ambush.

The lawmaker underscored that the case of Pakistani pilgrims sit-in at Taftan, a town on the border with Iran, would also be followed up.

According to the media reports, Pakistani pilgrims have staged a sit-in at Taftan to protest against lack of security measures by the Pakistani government on their pilgrimage to the sacred shrines in Iran.
