Sputnik - Press service of the Kazakh Foreign Ministry said that Kazakhstan considers the outcome of the fourth round of talks on Syria in Astana, held earlier this week, to be a significant step toward peace in the country.


ASTANA (Sputnik) Kazakhstan considers the outcome ofthe fourth roundof talks onSyria inAstana, held earlier this week, tobe a significant step towardpeace inthe country, a press service ofthe Kazakh Foreign Ministry said Friday.


"Kazakhstan considers the outcome ofthe fourth international meeting onSyria inAstana asanother significant step towardestablishing peace inthe country, it calls onthe parties [of the conflict] toimplement all agreements and confirms its readiness tofurther continue tocontribute tointernational efforts aimed atsearching fordifferent ways ofpolitical settlement ofthe Syrian conflict, inparticular asa non-permanent member ofthe UN Security Council," the statement read.


The ministry pointed outthat signing a pact onThursday onthe creation ofso-called de-escalation zones where Syrian government and opposition forces would not be allowed toengage, became the main outcome ofthe negotiations.
"The signed document notes that withinthe borders ofthe four security zones, which include Idlib province and part ofthe provinces ofLatakia, Hama and Aleppo, the area tothe north ofHoms, Eastern Ghouta, aswell asDeraa and Quneitra provinces insouthern Syria, hostilities betweenthe warring parties should be ceased, use ofany kind ofweapons, including aircraft would be prohibited, delivery ofhumanitarian aid and medicine would be secured, conditions forthe restoration ofbasic infrastructure forthe needs ofthe population, safe and voluntary return ofrefugees would be created," the statement said.


The recent roundof the Astana talks, which brought together the sides tothe Syrian conflict Damascus and armed opposition, aswell asthree ceasefire mediator states Russia, Iran and Turkey, took place onWednesday-Thursday, while a meeting atthe experts level took place onTuesday.

The first three rounds oftalks onthe Syrian settlement brokered byRussia, Turkey and Iran, were held inKazakh capital ofAstana onJanuary 23-24, February 15-16 and March 14-15. During the talks, the participants agreed toset upa ceasefire monitoring group, amongother points.
