President urges Pakistan to act quickly against terrorists in its soil

IRNA President Hassan Rouhani on Thursday urged the government of Pakistan to be accountable and take swift action for Identifying and confronting terrorist and Takfiri elements involved in the criminal act against the Iranian border guards.

Nine Iranian border guards were martyred by terrorists in Mirjaveh region, in southeastern province of Sistan and Baluchestan on April 26, while patrolling at the zero border point. The terrorists fled to Pakistans territories after killing the Iranian border guards in an ambush.

Two more border guards were also injured in the terrorist act.

Mirjaveh is located 75 km east of the provincial capital city of Zahedan.

President Rouhani condoled with the bereaved families of the nine martyred border guards in a statement on Thursday and wished quick recovery for the two injured.

The President also ordered the Supreme National Security Council and the Foreign Ministry to pursue the case in order to prevent repetition of similar ruthless actions.
