IRNA – The Fifth International Summit of the World Assembly of Islamic Cities (WAIC) started work here on Sunday in the presence of President Hassan Rouhani in this northwestern Iranian province
Today’s WAIC summit aims to review Sustainable Development Goals, New Urban Agenda, City Prosperity, Challenges and Opportunities in the Islamic cities.
According to UN-Habitat, City Prosperity Initiative (CPI) is a global initiative that enables city authorities, as well as local and national stakeholders, to identify opportunities and potential areas of intervention for their cities to become more prosperous.
Imam Khomeini International University is hosting the day-long WAIC summit in which 800 domestic and foreign guests have participated.
Representatives from the United Nations (UN), ambassadors, mayors and a number of religious scholars from Iraq, Turkey, India, Bangladesh, Palestine, Indonesia, China, Morocco, Pakistan and Afghanistan are also present in the fifth WAIC gathering in Iran.
