Int'l Islamic Human Rights Conf. wraps up in Tehran

IRNA The International Human Rights Conference was held on Saturday in the University of Tehran.

The conference aimed to present an Islamic model for human rights and to prepare an academic ground for eliminating the hegemony of Western human rights concepts and distancing from inaction in the face of this reality.

The Islamic Human Rights Conference discussed three major related themes: Foundations, Concepts, Distinctive features and Priorities.

Head of Research at the London-based Islamic Human Rights Commission Arzu Merali, Elected imam of the Islamic center of Washington, member of the World Forum for Proximity of Islamic School of Thought, Tehran, member of the Institute of Contemporary Islamic Thought (ICIT) Mohammad H. Asi, Director of Citizens
International , Malaysia, Mohideen Abdul Naser and Faculty member at Faculty of Law and Political Sciences at university of Tehran and special assistance to the President in Civil Right Affairs Elham Aminzadeh as well as Spokesman of Guardians Council and Professor at Faculty of Law and Political Sciences at University of Tehran Abbasali Kadkhodazadeh were among those who delivered speech during the conference.

Intellectuals from Iran, Britain, Malaysia and the US presented their articles to the conference which discussed common points and the points of difference as well as the advantages of Islamic human rights in comparison with the dominating Western human rights doctrine.
