Iran calls US to send peace message, not missiles, to region

MNA Head of Parliament NSFPC has criticized the US for its missile attack against Syrian airfield; says US should have sent message of peace rather than symbol of destruction.Mr. Alaeddin Boroujredi addressed a ceremony in Hotel Esteghlal of Tehran Thursday to commemorate Pakistan's National Day (on 23 March 1940), where a group of foreign envoys, dignitaries, and Pakistani ambassador to Tehran Mr. Asif Ali Khan Durrani.

The Principlist MP hailed historical relations with Pakistan and believed that the ties will be strong forever; "Iran's official line of policy is to support stability in the region especially its neighbors; we hope to see that peace embrace Iraq, Afghanistan, and Yemen," Boroujerdi told the ceremony, criticizing the recent US missile attack against an airfield in Syria. "Americans should have sent messages of peace rather than to attack the region with aggression and destruction," he added.

Mr. Durrani also addressed the ceremony with a history of his country's struggle to establish a new political system out of the colonial Indian Subcontinent back in 1940s; "March 23 marks the efforts of a Muslim nation who had a belief in forming a new country where they would live according to their religion and systems of belief," Mr. Durrani said.

"Pakistan is a newly emergent market with a 4-per cent growth rate; this provides for both countries opportunity to improve trade and strengthen the cordial ties, based on common beliefs and Islamic heritage they enjoy," said the ambassador.

Durrani also highlighted political dtente with Iran and said that in upcoming May, three Pakistani officials would visit Tehran accordingly; "President Rouhani had been crucial in making close both countries, with many economic deals signed, including electricity and gas pipeline as a huge project, not to mention improvements in banking operations," he emphasized, making an attainable target improvement in mutual trade to $ 5bn.

"As founders of ECO (Economic Cooperation Organization), Iran and Pakistan are important members of the Organization and will work together to realize regional peace and security for the whole region; an economic corridor to China from Iranian ports to China and sisterhood agreement of Guadar and Chabahar will open new horizons in trade for both sides," the ambassador concluded.
