Majlis speaker calls for formation of fact-finding mission on Syria

IRNA Majlis Speaker Ali Larijani stressed Sunday on the necessity of establishing a fact-finding mission to puzzle out who had used chemical weapons in Syria.

Condemning the US missile strike on Syria on Thursday night, Larijani said the fact-finding mission should find out who brought the weapons into Syria and from what border.

Addressing the Sunday Majlis open session, Larijani said the US attack on Syria is just a beginning not an ending.

Such an attack, as Larijani noted, aggravated the crisis and its outcomes will affect those who mounted the strike.

The Iranian nation suffered from chemical attacks carried out with the help of Western countries during the eight-year imposed war against the country, so Iran is against any use of chemical weapons.

Additionally, he went on to say, Iran is against the unfounded claims over the issue that will lead to adventurous moves and condemns them.

On Saturday, Iranian President Hassan Rouhani commented on the issue saying Syria chemical weapons were destroyed two years ago according to the UN reports, and the claims about existence of these weapons in the region should be investigated and made clear.
