IRNA - Iran's Ambassador and Permanent Representative to the United Nations (UN) Gholamali Khoshroo called on the United Nations (UN) Security Council to register Tehrans statement on peaceful solution to Syria as the Councils official document.

Khoshroo called for such a move in a note sent to the rotating president of the UN Security Council Matthew Rycroft.

Khoshroos note has been released through a Telegram channel by Deputy Foreign Minister for Arab and African Affairs Hossein Jaberi-Ansari.

Based on a request from Syria, Iran has taken effective political measures towards fight against terrorism and dispatch of humanitarian aid to the Syrian civilians, Khoshroo stressed in his note.

Islamic Republic of Iran has taken those measures within the framework of its principled policy based on respecting the Syrian territorial integrity and national sovereignty for the purpose of making a halt to the current crisis in that country, Khoshroo noted.

He went on to say by underling the importance solving the Syrian crisis through Syrian-Syrian dialogue and the political solutions as well.

In line with the Dec 20 statement issued in Moscow by Iran, Russia and Turkey, the three truce guarantors in Syria, and also another statement issued on Jan 24, 2017, by the Astana international talks on Syria, the Islamic Republic of Iran is after a peaceful solution to the Syrian crisis and spares no efforts to guarantee the Dec 30 ceasefire in that crisis-stricken country.

Iran will help Syria along with the groups, which have joined the Syrian government to fight against terrorism, maintain truce in their country.

The Dec 2015 Resolution 2254 adopted by the UN Security Council calls for ceasefire in Syria. The resolution has excluded the Jabhat al-Nusra, Daesh and other groups affiliated to them.
