Iran rejects US terror allegations as bogus, political

Press TV - The Iranian Foreign Ministry has dismissed as bogus and utterly political the US allegation that the Islamic Republic supports terrorism.

The claim of Irans support for terrorism is a bogus, baseless and completely political allegation and even the accusers are fully aware of the futility and falsity of them, Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesman Bahram Qassemi said on Saturday.

Qassemis comments came a day after the US State Department designated as terrorists and imposed sanctions on two Bahraini activists whom it said were affiliated with a group receiving funding and support from Iran.
It is not expected from the US, which claims to advocate democracy and human rights, to avoid standing by the hegemonic and human rights violating regimes, the Iranian spokesperson said.
He added that Washington could not also be expected to refrain from falsely accusing other countries, like always and as in the past decades, for its own short-term interests and fleeting delight of such regimes.

There is no doubt that a government, which distrusts a large portion of its people and is always struggling with them, demands its security from foreigners and extra-regional powers instead of relying on its own nation, Qassemi pointed out.

He said the Islamic Republic was well aware of the reasons behind raising such vain allegations which had merely political objectives.

Despite such incorrect publicity and charges, Iran would continue to pursue its constant policy which is based on cooperation on fighting and uprooting any form of terrorism in any part of the world, particularly in the sensitive Middle East region, he added.
Iran will firmly continue with its relentless fight [against terrorism], Qassemi pointed out.
Anti-regime protesters have been taking to the streets in Bahrain on an almost daily basis ever since a popular uprising began in the country in February 2011.

People have been demanding that the Al Khalifah family relinquish power and let a just system representing all Bahrainis be established.
