Astana talks extended for one day amid opposition arrival - Kazakh Ministry

Sputnik News- The third round of Syria reconciliation talks in Astana is being extended for one day amid Syrian armed opposition arrival, the Kazakh Foreign Ministry's representative told Sputnik on Wednesday.

The third roundof Syria reconciliation talks inAstana is being extended forone day inthe anticipation ofarrival ofSyrian armed opposition representatives tothe negotiations, withthe talks participants expected todiscuss differentiation betweenterrorists and armed groups, the Kazakh Foreign Ministry's Asia and Africa Department Director General Aidarbek Tumatov told Sputnik onWednesday.

The delegation ofseven representatives ofNorthern and Southern front opposition is expected toarrive inAstana later inthe day.

"Tomorrow, onthe 16th, the talks will be continued witha military aspect included, which, I think, is important, given the issues ofterrorist groups' location, including that ofthe IS [Islamic State, outlawed inRussia] and the Jabhat al-Nusra [also outlawed inRussia], and the location ofmoderate opposition are expected tobe discussed," Tumatov said.

The delegation ofSyrian armed opposition, comprising seven representatives ofthe North and South fronts, is expected toarrive tothe peace talks inAstana onWednesday, the Kazakh Foreign Ministrys Director ofthe Asia and Africa Department Aidarbek Tumatov told Sputnik.

"After all, the representatives ofthe [Syrian] opposition are going toarrive inAstana. This evening, seven representatives ofthe North and South fronts will arrive tohold talks particularly devoted tothe military aspect," Tumatov said.

Moreover, the guarantor states ofthe Syrian ceasefire regime Russia, Iran and Turkey are discussing the adoption ofa document onthe release ofthe Syrian civil war prisoners atthe peace talks inAstana, the progress will depend onthe perseverance ofthe sides, the Kazakh Foreign Ministrys Director ofthe Department ofAsia and Africa Aidarbek Tumatov told Sputnik onWednesday.

"This document is currently reviewed bythe guarantor states this issue is onthe agenda ofthe talks betweenthe guarantors," Tumatov said.

The future ofthe document will depend onthe participants ofthe talks, butthe humanitarian aspect is the most important inthis process, the official added.

On Tuesday, the third roundof talks onSyrian settlement officially kicked offin the Kazakh capital.
