MNA A new meeting on Syrian settlement in the Kazakh capital has officially kicked off with a bilateral meeting between the UN and Russian delegations, a Sputnik correspondent reported on Tuesday.
The UN expert delegation is led byMilos Strugar.
The Delegations fromDamascus, Turkey and Iran had already arrived inAstana forthe talks. Representatives ofthe Syrian armed opposition, mainly fromthe South Front, may come later onTuesday.
The first roundof Astana talks onSyria brokered byRussia, Turkey and Iran were held onJanuary 23-24 and resulted ina Moscow-Tehran-Ankara agreement onthe establishment ofa trilateral mechanism tomonitor the ceasefire inSyria.
The second roundof the Astana talks took place onFebruary 15-16, withthe participants agreeing toset upa ceasefire monitoring group, encompassing Iran, Russia and Turkey, that would report tothe United Nations.
