Iran in talks with Russia on prospects of JCPOA implementation - Deputy FM

Sputnik News- Iran's Deputy Foreign Minister said that Tehran is in talks with Moscow on prospects of implementation of the 2015 nuclear deal known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action in the light of recent presidential election in the United States.

Tehran is intalks withMoscow onprospects ofimplementation ofthe 2015 nuclear deal known asthe Joint Comprehensive Plan ofAction (JCPOA) inthe light ofrecent presidential election inthe United States, Iran's Deputy Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi told Sputnik.

"Sure, withRussia we have contacts and consultations atalmost all levels. I recently visited Moscow, met with [Russian Deputy Foreign Minister] Sergey Ryabkov, my colleague, we exchanged views ondifferent aspects ofJCPOA implementation, especially inthe aftermath ofthe new developments inthe United States. We are incontacts withthem atthe expert level aswell. Our ministers meet frequently. Last time they met inMunich. So withRussia we have excellent cooperation," Araghchi said.

The nuclear agreement signed inJuly 2015 byIran and the P5+1 group ofcountries comprising China, France, Russia, the United Kingdom and the United States, plus Germany stipulates that Tehran must maintain a peaceful nature ofits nuclear program inexchange forinternational sanctions relief.

US President Donald Trump has opposed the nuclear deal withTehran and stated he would review it.
