US should reverse destabilizing policies: Irans DM

Tasnim Irans Defense Minister Brigadier General Hossein Dehqan recommended that, instead of putting the blame on the others, the new US administration shift the destructive policies that led to the birth of the Daesh (ISIL) terrorist group.

Addressing a conference in Tehran on Tuesday, the Iranian defense minister urged the US administration to address the chaotic situation in its own society instead of criticizing and shifting the blame onto the other nations.

Washington had better put a halt to the policies that led to creation of Daesh and resulted in insecurity and conflicts in the Middle East and other parts of the world, the general added.

Making a reference to US President Donald Trumps assertion in his election campaign that Barack Obama was the founder of Daesh and Hillary Clinton was its co-founder, the Iranian minister said the world should now judge whether Iran is a threat or the US.

He then took a swipe at the Israeli regime for its futile attempts to form coalitions against Iran, saying such attempts will never force the Islamic Republic to abandon the policy of supporting the cause of Palestine and liberation of al-Quds.

His comments coincided with an international conference in support of Palestine.

Attended by around 700 foreign officials and intellectuals, the 6th International Conference on Palestinian Intifada kicked off in Tehran on Tuesday morning.
