Sputnik News- Russia's top diplomat said excluding Tehran from the anti-terrorist coalition would be a mistake.
Barring Iran fromthe anti-terrorist coalition onthe basis ofunsubstantiated allegations alone would not be sensible, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said onSunday inhis interview withthe NTV channel.
"If there are suspicions, then lets consider them. But toexclude Iran fromthe anti-terrorist coalition onones bare word is not sensible, and the United States are famous forbeing sensible," Lavrov said.
The United States must admit that the Iran-supported Hezbollah, listed asa terrorist organization bythe United States, is too fighting againstthe terrorists ofDaesh, Lavrov said.
"Yes, [the US] relations withIran are now much more troubled thanthey were underBarack Obamas presidency. But we speak foractions based oncommon sense. If President [Donald] Trump sees his main priority onthe international arena inthe fight againstterrorism, then they have toadmit that, say, inSyria, the main forces fighting againstDaesh besidesthe Syrian army supported bythe Russian Aerospace Forces are units ofHezbollah that have Irans support," Lavrov said, adding that the United States will have tochoose their priorities.
Speaking ofIran allegedly offering support toterrorist organizations, Lavrov underlined that the country is being monitored bythe Financial Action Task Force (FATF), an inter-governmental body combating terrorist financing. The minister reminded that onFebruary 8, FATF presented another report regarding Irans actions infighting againstfinancing ofterrorism, and "the results were positive."
