Welcome to the Trumpocalypse

American Herald Tribune|Tim King: What happens to Americans if Trump takes his country's political relations with the world to the point of no return? This is a question burning in the minds of millions right now and the possible eventual outcomes are frightening, right across the board. What if a "Trumpocalypse" happens and terror and disintegration sweep the nation? Will people choose sides? What will those sides or alliances be? Will racism and white exceptionalism be the driving force? Will parts of the military and / or other government agencies attack their fellow Americans if ordered to, or would they split away from the Trump Administration? There certainly is a history of that happening to countries with extreme internal difficulties.

These are daunting questions that few want to address or look at closely. Less than a month into Trump's first month, sparks are already flying in every direction and the future is highly uncertain.

It is an absolute fact that within the United States, Trump's presidency has emboldened white racism and countered efforts to build racial equality. Nazi fringe groups continue to gain momentum and emerge from the shadows. In Ashland, Oregon, a place known for higher education and liberal values, at least one professionally painted Nazi truck is making the rounds, likely connected to Nazi recruitment posters being left on the city's telephone poles.

Most Americans have heard about Breitbart editor Milo Yiannopoulos's antagonistic far-right speeches on college campuses. Offering a "Privilege Grant" to white male students only, claiming "feminism is a mean, vindictive, spiteful nasty man-hating philosophy," Yiannopoulos's efforts are driving an unprecedented wedge between students. Lest we forget though, that college campuses have always been packed with kids from right-leaning families. College has been priced out of range for so many in the US, it isn't surprising. Just because students took to protest and demonstration during the Vietnam War does not mean that all students are liberal. Yet this is the impression that Yiannopoulos leaves.

Making things worse, Nathan Damigo, founder of Identity Evropa, has piggybacked upon the college campus opportunities created by Yiannopoulos to recruit members for his white supremacist group. Of course Breitbart Chairman Steve Bannon, has been tapped by Trump as CEO even though Bannon has no political background. Mother Jones put it like this, "By bringing on Stephen Bannon, Trump was signaling a wholehearted embrace of the 'alt-right,' a once-motley assemblage of anti-immigrant, anti-Muslim, ethno-nationalistic provocateurs who have coalesced behind Trump and curried the GOP nominee's favor on social media. In short, Trump has embraced the core readership of Breitbart News."

Quartz Media writes that Trump supporting college students near Boston, at Wellesley College, drove their pick-up with a Trump flag in front of a house for students of African descent jeering, screaming "Trump" and "Make America Great Again.' When a female student asked them to leave, they spit in her direction. FOX News reports that in Utah high schools, Hispanic students have been bullied due to the color of their skin. The list continues, it truly does seem like the United States has stepped back in time.

It always leads back to the sad conclusion that truly peaceful people are generally unarmed and non-aggressive. For many, owning a firearm is a contradiction to their values. One thing is certain though, when it all comes down, armed groups will be the ones that control the resources, and likely the freedom of others. If the nation were to be divided, the gun owners would be in control.

American cities and towns are intrinsically dependent on shipments that are delivered with trucks and railroad trains. If anything happened to the power grid in America, and some experts say there are devices in existence right now that threaten such a possibility, it would take only days for panic to set in. Places like Las Vegas, Nevada, literally a city in the middle of the desert, are like islands, and if transportation was cut off, it would be simply disastrous. What if Trump's political chest thumping leads to an actual attack on the United States from a foreign country? Is the US in a position to deal with that? Even though US taxpayer resources are constantly used to kill people in far away places, Americans do not know the first thing about war on their own land.

One of the only forms of balance that may come into play in a post-apocalyptic setting was observed at the recent Veteran Deployment to Standing Rock, North Dakota. Here, thousands and thousands of veterans joined thousands of Lakota Sioux and Native Americans from tribes all across the country to take a stand against the Dakota Access Pipeline (DAPL) in a show of force to both police and the North Dakota National Guard, and it worked. This combination of veterans and Native Americans proved extremely effective. In this case, there was no violence, no weapons, just raw determination to make a difference and a whole lot of like-minded people.

Preparation experts say it is time for Americans to gather supplies for whatever may happen. Families should stock up with every type of supply one may need to survive in whatever location they could possibly end up in if the worst thing happens. While guns are widely detested, it may be time for people to consider options they never considered. The potential for bad behavior in an apocalyptic setting is guaranteed.

I've often heard of America compared to a juvenile delinquent and never has it made more sense. The nation that massacred the land's indigenous population and tore itself to pieces over slavery, has become the most dangerous kid on the block, so to speak. Challenging nations that have existed for thousands of years, spitting in the face of ideas that endless numbers of American servicemen have died fighting for, this is the new USA and Donald Trump is fully in control, at least for the time being, pushing his agendas onto people everywhere and creating an unparalleled sense of isolation for Americans who now begin to join citizens of other countries in their fear of the United States. He insults, debases, grabs and takes anything his heart fancies all the while, receiving the cheer of racist whites in red states in particular, while other more reasonably minded Americans turn their heads in horror.

It goes right to the soul of what it means to be American.

In just a few days, newly sworn US President Donald Trump has shown the world that they have plenty to be nervous about.
