Iranian defense minister denies media reports of Tehran's missile test

Sputnik News- The Iranian Defense Minister has denied media reports of Tehran's missile test, Press TV reports.





Earlier, Fox News World reported citing a US official that Iran has launched another missile fromthe same launch pad that was used duringthe ballistic missile test inJanuary.

On January 29, Iran tested a ballistic medium-range missile resulting inUS administration imposing a new roundof sanctions onTehran. Iranian Defense Minister Brig. Gen. Hossein Dehqan said that Tehran did not regard the test asa breach ofthe Joint Comprehensive Plan ofAction (JCPOA) or a violation ofthe UN resolution onthe issue.
"Let's start fromthe fact that these statements are not true, it did not happen," Defense Minister Brig. Gen. Hossein Dehqhan said, commenting onthe recent US media report.


Last week, Iranian supreme leaders top aide Ali Akbar Velayati said Iran intended tocontinue carrying outits missile tests inaccordance withits defense program.

On February 3, US Treasury Department imposed a new roundof sanctions againstIran, adding 12 entities and 13 individuals tothe OFACs Specially Designated Nationals list, afterTehran carried outa missile launch.

The move came afterUS President Donald Trump said that Iran is "playing withfire," adding that he will not be "as kind" asformer US leader Barack Obama had been.

After much criticism and speculation overalleged missile tests inIran earlier inthe week, the nations Defense Minister Brig. Gen. Hossein Dehqhan confirmed onWednesday that the nation had conducted test missile launches inline withtheir defense programs. Dehqan also underlined the fact that these tests violated neither the Joint Comprehensive Plan ofAction (JCPOA) nor UN Resolution 2231.
