Russia boosting cooperation with Turkey, Iran to resolve Syria's issues - Lavrov

Sputnik News- Russia is stepping up its cooperation with Turkey, Iran and other countries of the region to resolve urgent issues in Syria, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said Wednesday.

According toa joint statement ofRussia, Iran and Turkey issued followingSyrian peace talks inAstana onTuesday, the countries agreed tocreate a trilateral group onmonitoring the Syrian ceasefire.
"We are increasing cooperation withTurkey, Iran, other regional states toresolve urgent issues ofthe Syrian crisis. Thanks tothe coordinated efforts, primarily viamilitary agencies, it was possible toliberate Aleppo fromextremists, then introduce the cessation ofhostilities onthe basis ofthe agreement ofDecember 29 last year," Lavrov said speaking inthe Russian parliament.


The nationwide ceasefire inSyria backed byRussia and Turkey came intoeffect onDecember 30 and was later supported bya UN Security Council resolution.
