Condolences pouring in for victims of deadly high-rise

MNA A number of international high-ranking officials condoled with Iranian nation and government over the martyrdom of firefighters after the huge fire at and collapse of Plasco commercial building in Tehran.


In his message on Friday to his Iranian counterpart President Rouhani, Syrian President Bashar al-Assad expressed sorrow over the incident and condoled with the families of victims, Iranian nation and government.

"I am praying to God Almighty to grant His Mercy on the deceased and grant the injured speed recovery," he noted in his message.

Turkey's senior figures, including Presidnet Recep Tayyip Erdogan, Turkey's senior officials including the presiden, Prime Minister Binali Y?ld?r?m and Foreign Minister Mevlt avu?o?lu also expressed their condolences to their counterparts over the tragic event.

Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko, Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, Georgian Prime Minister Giorgi Kvirikashvili and Minister of Emergency Situations Vladimir Puchkov also expressed their condolences to the Iranian people.

The French Foreign Ministry also condoled in a message with the Iranian people for the tragic event.

Serbian President Tomislav Nikoli? extended condolences to President Hassan and sympathized with bereaved families of the victims on his and Serbian nation's behalf.

Spain and the Republic of Azerbaijan also on Friday condoled Iranian officials and nation on the building collapse, which left tens of people, including firefighters killed and many others injured or missing.

At least 20 firefighters have been martyred after a major commercial building in Iran's capital, Tehran, collapsed following a huge fire.

Firefighters battled the blaze for several hours before the building fell. More than 200 people injured in the fire were transferred to medical facilities.
