IRGC statement: Hashemi Rafsanjani ‘served Revolution, Leader well’

MNA– IRGC has issued a statement to offer condolences on the death of Ayatollah Hashemi Rafsanjani on Monday.

The statement hailed Hashemi’s role in the Islamic Revolution and afterwards in upholding the ideals of the Establishment as a pivotal figure; “Hashemi will not be understood alone and in separation from the history of the Revolution; his perseverance angered and frustrated the enemies of the system; the collective historical memory of the nation provides testament to Hashemi’s contribution to the Islamic movement which culminated in the Revolution; before that, during the despotic rule of Pahlavi regime, Hashemi had been a victim of tortures in prison, but survived the inflictions,” said the statement.

“In many positions, Hashemi Rafsanjani served the system during the war and after that appeared as president championing the all-out rebuilding the country; he was a close confidant for the Founder of the Revolution and then to Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Ali Khamenei,” the statement added.

Yet in related story, Islamic Republic of Iran’s Army also offered condolences to the nation and state as well; “the death of a reliable figure and a bedrock of the system and the Revolution was a great loss for the nation and his demise will be mourned; a figure of immense perseverance, Hashemi Rafsanjani had several golden pages in his book of history and in different bottlenecks of the Revolutionary era,” the Army statement read. “His many years of service made Hashemi Rafsanjani an influential figure and a weighty figure in hard times.”
