Araqchi: Violation of JCPOA intolerable under any excuse

IRNA - Head of the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) Implementation Headquarters Abbas Araqchi said on Monday that Tehran never tolerates violation of the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) under various excuses and will show appropriate and timely reaction to such behaviors.

Speaking to IRNA, Araqchi said ratification of the board in charge of supervision and implementation of the JCPOA and president's verdict should be regarded in line with the same policy.

Based on the decision, made by the supervisory committee and president's verdict, prediction of political means have been made to implement the JCPOA and relative joint commission on the JCPOA has been held, he said.

The committee is to follow up violation of the US Congress in re-extending Iran Sanction Act (ISA) , he said.

'If a country is to lodge a complaint on violation of the JCPOA, they first should hold bilateral negotiations and these talks are to be held between Iranian experts and their American counterparts,' he said.

The working committee in charge of removal of sanctions at the expert level will hold a meeting and after the expert level talks with Americans, the result will be referred to a joint committee tomorrow, he said.

Iran believes that extension of Iran Sanction Act (ISA) by the US Congress is regarded as violation of the JCPOA and the clear message of Iran should be sent to a member of the joint committee as well as other members of the G5+1, he said.

The Atomic Energy Organization of Iran (AEOI) has been assigned to design nuclear propulsion, which is of prime importance and the Iranian foreign ministry also has been instructed to implement required political apparatus for JCPOA in order to voice Iran's message on tomorrow, he said.

Based on the JCPOA, the one who claims violation of the JCPOA should hold mutual talks with the violators of the JCPOA and in case the issue was not resolved, the case will be passed to a working committee and if it also was not resolved then, it will be referred to a joint commission meeting, he said.

Trilateral meeting on the JCPOA between representatives from the Islamic Republic of Iran and the G5+1 will be held in Vienna on Tuesday.
The meeting will be held at deputy ministerial levels and Araqchi from Iran and Helga Schmid on behalf of the EU foreign policy chief Federica Mogherini will Co-chair the meeting.
