Iran, Australia agree to resume direct flight

FNA- Tehran and Canberra agreed to boost their mutual cooperation in the air aviation industry and transportation by establishing direct flights between the two capitals.

The issue was raised in a meeting between Iranian Ambassador to Australia Abdolhossein Vahaji and senior Australian aviation officials in Canberra on Saturday.

Vahaji said that in their meeting, the two sides exchanged views on implementation of agreements and starting direct flights between Tehran and Canberra.

The Iranian ambassador said that establishing direct flights between Iran and Australia will lead to boosting bilateral relations between the two countries.

In a relevant development in late September, Tehran and Canberra signed several new agreements to broaden their cooperation in different areas.

"Iran and Australia concluded fresh agreements to forge closer ties," Australian Trade Minister Steve Ciobo announced.

Ciobo reiterated that a new era of cooperation between the two countries has started, and said, "I am leading a trade delegation of more than 20 companies specializing in different industrial fields to study the cooperation prospects in mining, oil and gas fields."

"We are in the dawn of a new age of the relationship with Iran," Ciobo said in meeting with a group of businessmen in Tehran.

He reiterated that one of the agreements deals with cooperation between the Australian and Iranian banking sectors to collaborate and share information, and said, "Another will share Australian expertise and technologies to help Iran manage scarce water resources."
