Italy returns large haul of Iran’s stolen artifacts

30 Iranian ancient artifacts repatriated from Italy

IRNA – 30 Iranian ancient artifacts were repatriated to Iran in cooperation with Italian cultural property police, Cultural Heritage, Handicrafts and Tourism Organization Deputy Chief Mohammad Hassan Talebian said.

Talebian told IRNA on Wednesday that an Italian collection owner had previously bought some artifacts from different places like Bangkok among which there were 30 Iranian artifacts and some from India and China.

‘Italian cultural property police followed up the issue and informed the Iranian embassy and then some Iranian cultural heritage experts went there to identify those related to Iran,’ Talebian said.

The repatriated artifacts have been displayed for one month in National Museum of Iran since Tuesday.
