No phone talks between Iranian, Russian FMs

IRNA Foreign Ministry's Media Diplomacy Center on Tuesday ruled out 'unauthenticated and invalid' reports that Foreign Minister Mohammad-Javad Zarif and Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov had held phone talks.

'The last phone call of Iranian and Russian foreign ministers dates as back as Thursday,' the Center announced.

The Center's announcement said the report on the phone call of the two officials, published on Tuesday morning, lacks any authenticity and credit.

Over recent weeks, especially after liberation of Aleppo, heads of diplomatic organs of many countries held many phone calls with Zarif.

The last phone call of Zarif and Russian counterpart took place last week. The two sides welcomed broad-based ceasefire in Syria and underlined continued campaign against terrorism and Daesh and al-Nusra terrorist groups and their allies.

Iranian and Russian Foreign Ministers agreed to have constant coordination and consultation within framework of Iran-Russia-Turkey cooperation to organize talks between Syrian government and opposition in Astana, Kazakhstan.
