Iraqi top comdr. rejects presence of US forces in Mosul liberation operation

IRNA An Iraqi top commander on Saturday rejected speculation spread by certain media outlets about alleged presence of US troops in Mosul liberation operation.


Speaking in an exclusive interview with IRNA, Commander of Iraqi Counterterrorism Brigade Major General Abdulwahhab al-Saedi, said that the second phase of the liberation operation for Nineveh Governorate in northern Iraq is currently underway.

He ruled out rumors about the presence of foreign troopes including US forces in Mosul liberation operation.

The commander said that Iraqi forces have fully liberated the neighborhoods in eastern Mosul and that they are currently advancing towards other neighborhoods.

He rejected the speculation about heavy losses incurred on the Iraqi forces, saying the casualties on Iraqi forces are very low given the scale of the operation and the area of liberated neighborhoods.

'We will have good news of great victories for the Iraqi nation in the near future,' the commander said.
