Police bust criminal gang southeast of Iran

Tasnim The Iranian Police smashed an armed gang in a village in the southeastern province of Sistan and Baluchestan.

After intelligence gathering, police forces of Nik Shahr county in the border province arrested four members of the criminal gang on Tuesday, a local police official told Tasnim.

In a raid on the hideout of the outlaws in the village, police confiscated a rifle and illegal ammunition, the official explained, saying the thugs had a long record of armed robberies.

Police and security forces have been quite successful in ensuring security in Sistan and Baluchestan despite the provinces long borders with Pakistan and Afghanistan, harsh weather and vast desert areas.
