Implications of Aleppo clean-up, liberation

Alwaght-The crucial victory against foreign-backed terrorists who had occupied Syria's Aleppo for 53 months, will having lasting implications.

Takfiri terrorists and international mercenaries who carried out unprecedented atrocities suffered a heavy blow from resistance forces and had no option but to exit Aleppo. This liberation and clean-up of Aleppo is expected to have major historical implications which can be summed up as follows.

Balkanization of Syria Stopped

First, the liberation of Aleppo implies that the heinous plot to use armed groups and terrorists to balkanize Syria and create autonomous entities has been confined to the oblivion. This is because the creation of such an entity would only be possible by occupying a strategic city such as Aleppo which has the requisite demography, geography, political and military infrastructure. Aleppo was the most appropriate choice for regional states and foreign powers intent on splitting up Syria.

The Syrian opposition groups have been using Aleppo as a bargaining chip in the country's political dialogue and would frequently threaten secession to pressurize President Bashar Al Assad but they have now lost one of their major cards in any future talks.

Arab Monarchs, Turkeys Role Diminished in Syria

There is no doubt that the negative role played in Syria crisis by Arab monarchs in the Persian Gulf region had significantly reduced even before the commencement of Aleppo liberation. Their destructive interference was limited to media propaganda against the Syrian government using their media outlets. Additionally, the liberation of Aleppo points to Turkey's diminishing influence despite its chest thumping before the operation to oust terrorists from the key city started. Despite its military incursion in northern Syria, apparently Turkey is becoming increasingly weak in the war-torn country and the emerging regional power balance is not in its favor.

ISIS Reactivated

Amid the fierce offensive to liberate Aleppo, there was a sudden and unexpected reactivation of the ISIS terrorist groups despite the major losses it suffered over the recent past which significantly reduced to maneuverability in northern Syria. ISIShas been rejuvenated and moved from being defensive to offensive as was witnessed when the terror group attacked the ancient city of Palmyra and its environs.

Therefore, the resurgence of ISIS was not a coincident but rather a move orchestrated by regional and international powers opposed to the Syrian government. This rejuvenation of ISIS has taken place within as part of reciprocal engagement between ISIS and foreign powers backing the Takfiri terrorist group.

This implies that ISIS is being propelled by foreign powers to play a prominent role in Syria as part of an alliance of armed militants and terrorist groups in the war-torn country. Due to the weakening or surrender of other armed groups, foreign powers opposed to President Assad are empowering ISIS to continue their war against Damascus.

Aleppo Liberation, Turning Point

From an international strategic point of view, Aleppo liberation was a turning point in the protracted war in Syria and not less important than the retreat of the US from its earlier hardline position of regime change or the chemical weapons crisis which was a futile attempt to frame the Syrian government.

The US retreat before the retaking of Aleppo shows Washington's failure in its policies of igniting fear and threatening military action. The US came to the realization that it cannot face the power Russia, other allies of Syria.

Another outstanding aspect of the complete ejection of terrorists from Aleppo is the ineffectiveness of enemies of the Syrian nation who have now resorted to raising cannot be compared to the status, power and immunity of the Syrian government and its allies.

The Syrian Army and its allies made a declaration of their decision to retake Aleppo and this was followed by action which included military and political resolve to attain the stated objective and this contributed to US retreat from tis stances while disarming Ankaras aggressive policies in Syria.

Western Double Standards

Finally, the liberation of Aleppo and ejection of Takfiri terrorists, especially Al Qaeda, backed by countries claiming to be involved in war on terror once again revealed the double standard applied by Western countries. While leaders and the media in these countries claim to be defenders of democracy and human rights, they are actually fronting for major cartels of weapons manufactures. The retaking of Aleppo has shown that Syrian can defeat their enemies with firm resolve through the martyrdom and injury of hundreds of thousands and assistance by regional and international allies.
