Iran army employs new ground warfare tactic in drill

Tasnim Irans Army Ground Force employed an innovative land warfare tactic on Monday as part of a large-scale military exercise underway in the countrys southeastern regions.

On the second day of the war game - codenamed Muhammad Rasulullah-4 (Muhammad, the Messenger of God) - the Army Ground Force implemented an innovative land warfare tactic that includes layered destructive operations in a smart battlefield.

According to General Kamal Payambari, spokesman for the war game, the new tactic, which has been developed by local experts, allows for an assault with minimum number of troops that would cause maximum damage to the enemys forces and equipment before a simultaneous or phased rapid offense against occupied zones.

He also noted that combat drones were flown on Monday as part of tactical operations to target the hypothetical enemys command and control centers.

Covering an area of more than 220,000 square kilometers southeast of Iran, the war game began on Sunday and is planned to take place in three main stages.

On Monday, the Army Ground Force also unveiled a number of new military products, including homegrown snipers, a drone dubbed Farpad, and a portable jamming device.

Moreover, choppers of the Ground Forces Airborne Unit targeted the hypothetical enemys vessels off the Sea of Omans coasts with Toofan (Hurricane) interceptor missiles.
