Syrian Gov't forces extend rule over 95 percent of Aleppo city

FNA- Syrian Army troops and popular forces are now in control of over 95 percent of Eastern Aleppo, the Russian Peace Coordination Center in Syria announced on Monday, while other sources said the army has 98 percent of the city under its control.

"Over the past 24 hours, the Syrian armed forces have liberated three districts of the Eastern part of Aleppo. Thus, over 95 percent of the territory of Aleppo is under government control," the Russian center said in a statement, adding that terrorists are squeezed now in a very small area.

In the meantime, the Arabic language Elam al-Harbi news website disclosed that the army and popular forces have tightened siege on militant in Southeastern Aleppo, cornering terrorists of Jeish al-Fatah in only five sq/km that is only two percent of Aleppo city's total area.

Reports said earlier today that the army troops and popular forces managed to drive Jeish al-Fatah coalition of terrorist groups out of their last positions in Southeastern Aleppo, squeezing the militants in a very small area with no way out.

The army soldiers and the Lebanese Hezbollah combatants continued their advances against Jeish al-Fatah and won back the neighborhoods of Karama al-Da'ada, al-Ferdows, al-Shahedin, Karam al-Afandi and al-Sharif Citadel and moved towards the neighborhoods of al-Kelaseh, Bostan al-Qasr (Bustan al-Kaser) and Souq (Bazaar) al-Haal, tightening siege on the militants in the battlefields.

The pro-government forces are chasing and hunting the militants that have preferred to flee towards the neighborhoods of al-Sukri, al-Mash'had, al-Ameriyeh and al-Ansari.

The army's engineering units, for their part, are defusing bombs and landmines planed by the terrorists in the streets of the newly-liberated districts and neighborhoods.

The army men and popular forces fortified their positions in the district of Sheikh Saeed and carried out fresh offensive against terrorists' defense lines in Karam al-Nazha neighborhood, winning back part of this neighborhood.

The army soldiers also took back control over a neighborhood between the district of al-Salehin and al-Hajj bridge Northwest of al-Ferdows and managed to approach al-Hajj square near the bridge.

If the army captures al-Hajj bridge militants in al-Kelaseh neighborhood will be besieged from the South.
