Iran mobile operator, OnAir launch in-flight roaming

Financial Tribune- Irans third mobile network operator, RighTel, said Sunday it is launching an in-flight roaming service. The operator said the new service has been initiated in collaboration with OnAir; a Swiss company, which enables airline passengers to use their cellphones and laptops for calls, text messaging, emails and Internet browsing. According to CITNA, RighTel subscribers can make use of this feature by enabling roaming and connecting to OnAir while in flight. The cost for calls, text message and Internet is 85,000, 30,000, and 650,000 rials respectively ($2.18, $0.8 and $16.5). Thirteen airlines are compatible with this feature, namely Singapore Airlines, British Airways, Emirates and Etihad to name a few. None of the air carriers listed are Iranian-owned.
