Cleric advises Obama not to fall into Israel's trap

IRNA - Tehran substitute Friday prayers leader Ayatollah Ahmad Khatami warned US President Barack Obana not to be caught in Zionists' trap by signing a bill approved by US Congress on extending sanctions against Iran.

US Senate and House of Representatives have voted for sanctions against Iran to be extended for another ten years and the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution has described the move as violation of the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) which should be dealt with.

All officials have adopted an identical stand in dealing with the issue and all are united and listen to the advice of the Supreme Leader and should avoid selective measures, Khatami said.

Global arrogance is not trustable; they have no respect for their own commitments and pledges, he added.

All should stand against any violation and seriously deal with it, he said.

'We are in dire need of unity as our solidarity will be a crushing response to all foreign conspiracies and this unity should be formed around the supreme leader,' he said.

The cleric also lashed out at the recent anti-Iran remarks by British Prime Minister Theresa May in a meeting of Persian Gulf Cooperation Council saying 'these remarks are worn out, especially by the leader of a country which has the most appaling record in its relations with Iran. These words have no result but more shouts of 'Down with Britain' by Iranians.
