Azerbaijans President approves Baku deal on cooperation with Iran, Russia

Sputnik- Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev approved the Baku Declaration on deepening cooperation between Azerbaijan, Iran and Russia, signed by the heads of state in August, the presidents press service said on Thursday.

BAKU (Sputnik) The Azerbaijans Parliament adopted the Baku Declaration atthe end ofOctober.

"President ofAzerbaijan Ilham Aliyev approved the law ofthe Republic ofAzerbaijan onadopting the joint declaration ofthe presidents ofthe Republic ofAzerbaijan, the Islamic Republic ofIran and the Russian Federation," a press statement said.

The first trilateral summit ofAzerbaijan, Iran and Russia took place onAugust 8 inBaku. The countries discussed a wide range ofissues onthe international and regional agenda, aswell assome specific projects ofcooperation.

The joint declaration signed bythe countries leaders is aimed atstrengthening cooperation invarious spheres, intensifying political dialogue, developing transportation and communication infrastructure. The sides also vowed totake joint efforts tofight terrorism, arms smuggling and drug trafficking inthe region.
