FM underlines boost of ties with Japan
IRNA Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif urged Japan to play its positive role in Iran.


He made the remarks in a meeting with the Chairman of Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO) Hiroyuki Ishige.

Zarif referred to the role of banking cooperation in development of economic relations between Iran and Japan and said Tehran wants Tokyo to play its positive role in Iran.

He reminded the good traditional ties between Iran and Japan and said the trade institutes are the engine of Tehran-Tokyo economic relations.

During the meeting, chairman of JETRO said with the removal of Iran's sanctions, the ground is now ready for increase of Japanese companies' investment and trade activity in Iran.

JETRO supports promotion of Japanese companies' activities in Iran, he noted.

The two officials also emphasized cooperation in fields of the environment, auto industry and drugs.

Zarif and Ishige explored avenues for boost of JETO presence in Iran.

Iranian foreign minister arrived in Tokyo on Wednesday morning local time on the head of a high ranking politico-economic delegation for talks with Japanese senior officials.

Zarif visited India and China prior to Tokyo and it is the last and third leg of his tour.

He is scheduled to meet with his Japanese counterpart, prime minister as well as some other senior officials.

Zarif is to discuss bilateral ties and the current regional and international issues with Japanese high ranking officials.

He will deliver speeches to Japan International Studies Institute as well as in an economic seminar in the presence of Iranian and Japanese businessmen.

Directors from 38 big companies, 15 from knowledge-based companies and eight commercial banks as well as a number of industrialist and businessmen are accompanying Foreign Minister Zarif.
