Thailand's PTTEP signs Iran oil fields deal

Shana Thai oil and gas company PTT Exploration and Production Public Company Limited (PTTEP) is to study three oil fields in Iran.

National Iranian Oil Company (NIOC) and its Thai opposite number signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on Tuesday for the latter to conduct studies on development of Changouleh, Dalpari and Belal oilfields in Iran.

Gholamreza Manouchehri, NIOC's deputy managing director for development and engineering affairs, and Prapat Soponpongpipat, PTTEP's executive director, signed the document on Tehran on Tuesday.

Based on the deal, PTTEP will carry out appraisal studies for development of the oilfields and submit the result of its studies to NIOC.
Addressing the signing ceremony, Manouchehri said other companies have been assigned to study the fields and the Thai company will have 6 months to offer the result of its studies on development projects of the fields to NIOC.

PTTEP is active in oil and gas projects in 14 countries of the world and has cooperated with Iran in the past, added Manouchehri.
