South Pars daily gas output to hit 515mcm by late December

Shana Managing director of Pars Oil and Gas Company (POGC) Mohammad Meshkin Fam says gas recovery from South Pars gas field will reach 515 mcm/d by the end of the Azar (9th month in Iranian calendar, December 20).

The official said production capacity from the supergiant gas field has reached 470 million cubic meters per day and is expected to reach 515 mcm/d once two new platforms become operational within the next two weeks.
During a visit to the platform of Phase I of the field, he said the field supplies 62% of the country's need for gas.

He said the company will be operating 40 offshore topside by the next three years, adding production of gas from platforms 21 and 18B will start before the yearend.
During the current Iranian calendar year which began on March 20, 5 platforms have been installed at the offshore gas field all developed domestically, he said.

Iran expected to increase gas production from South Pars to 540 mcm/d by the end of the calendar year.
The platforms at phases 17, 18, 19, 20, and 21 of the gas field are expected to become operational by March 2017.

Iran shares South Pars with Qatar in Persian Gulf waters.
