IRNA - Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Hossein Jaberi Ansari cited Arbaeen rituals as a symbol for portraying the lofty values of Imam Hussein (AS) martyrdom.

Talking to reporters, Jaberi Ansari reiterated that the huge Arbaeen procession could be considered as a symbol of unity among the Muslim Ummah.

Millions of Muslims from across the world marched toward the Iraqi holy city of Karbala to perform the rituals of Arbaeen, one of the most revered religious occasions on the Islamic calendar.

Arbaeen marks 40 days since Ashura when Imam Hussein, the grandson of Prophet Muhammad, was martyred in the desert plains of Karbala along with his 72 companions 14 centuries ago.
