FNA- Top Military Aide to the Iranian Supreme Leader Major General Yahya Rahim Safavi warned the US and its allies that cancelling the last year nuclear deal with Iran will be a grave strategic mistake.

"Any president who is empowered in the US is compelled to support the Zionists but annulment of the nuclear deal will be a strategic mistake and if (US President-elect Donald) Trump wants to call off the nuclear deal, it will harm the US," Rahim Safavi said in an interview with Iran's state-run TV on Tuesday night.

He said that if the US and its allies think of regional peace and security, they should come along with Iran.

Rahim Safavi had also earlier this week expressed the hope that Trump would change hostile policies towards Iran and the Middle-East region.

"We hope that the US president-elect will make a tangible turn on Iran and the region to uproot insecurity in the region," Rahim Safavi told reporters in Tehran on Monday.

He also expressed the hope that Trump would be able to withdraw the US forces from Afghanistan and other regional states.

Rahim Safavi, meantime, said past experience shows that the presidential candidates in different countries change their words after victory, and said, "Such a turn in the US president-elect is also possible since the US is administered by a system and the system doesn�t allow the president to do whatever he wants."

In relevant remarks last Wednesday, Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesman Bahram Qassemi called on Washington to seriously reconsider its Mideast policy, after Trump won the US presidential race.

"There should be a serious review of the US foreign policy with regard to the Middle East where extremism, war, political turmoil, and the more had rendered the region a home to evil and terrorism," Qassemi said in an official reaction to Trump's election as US president.

Qassemi voiced the deep resentment and frustration of Iranian people about the US past governments, and said, "The actual implemented policies mattered the most and the issues raised in campaign trails to canvass popular support would be overshadowed later by president�s performance when in the White House."

The Iranian foreign ministry spokesman reiterated that the rise of the ISIL and other threats to the global peace entails a serious refashioning of the American policy in the region.

Also last Wednesday, President Hassan Rouhani underlined that Donald Trump's victory in the US presidential race would leave no impact on Iran's policies.

"Iran's honor and independence is the result of the fact that our positions are just influenced by the Iranian nation's demand and will and are not affected by changes in the foreign governments; the result of the US election doesn�t affect the Islamic Republic of Iran's policies," President Rouhani said, addressing a cabinet meeting in Tehran.

He said given Washington's incorrect policies and its rifts with the international community and Europe, the US status has weakened before the world public opinion, and added, "The US vote results indicate tension and domestic instability in the United States, which will remain in place as much time is needed to resolve these internal differences and problems."

Noting that today the US is no more capable of using Iranophobia policies, Rouhani said Iran's wise decision to make the world powers ratify the nuclear deal as a UN Security Council resolution and not just an agreement with a government made the deal immune to changes in new administrations of different countries, including the US.
