Zarif wraps up Eastern Europe tour, returns home

IRNA Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif wraped up his Eastern European tour and returned to Tehran on Saturday morning.


The foreign minister paid a four-day visit to Romania, Slovakia and Czech Republic.

Zarif met with the Romanian president, prime minister and parliament speaker during his trip to the country.

Tourism, parliamentarian cooperation were major topics of Zarif discussion with the Romanian parliament speaker.

The Iranian foreign minister had also attended Iran-Romania economic forum and a conference on fighting terrorism.

He had also a meeting with the Iranians residing in Romania.

Slovakia was the second leg of Zarif tour to Eastern Europe in which he met with the country's president, prime minister and foreign minister.

Zarif attended Iran-Slovakia economic forum and signed a memorandum of understanding to boost political cooperation.

He visited Prague as the last leg of his tour to Europe and met with Czech Republic national assembly president, foreign minister and premier.

He attended a joint press conference with his counterpart and inked a memorandum of understanding.

A delegation of 30 Iranian entrepreneurs accompanied Zarif in his visit to the Eastern Europe and discussed cooperation with the European countries in fields of banking, energy, transportation, medical, mining, agriculture and auto industry.

Zarif paid a one-day visit to Lebanon prior to his tour of Eastern Europe and met with the country's president, prime minister, foreign minister and parliament speaker.
