Sputnik- A strong alliance between Russia, Iran and Syria is what can prevent the United States from taking any miscalculated risks in the Middle East following the election of Donald Trump a new president, Khalaf Muftah, a senior Syrian Baath Party official, told Sputnik on Wednesday.

MOSCOW (Sputnik)�� Trump triumphed over�his Democratic challenger Hillary Clinton in�the November 8 presidential election. He gained 289 electoral votes, which is more than�270 needed to�win. "We are the ones capable of�changing the US policy, if we keep the strong alliance between�Russia, Iran and the axis of�resistance, then the new US president will not be able to�make any miscalculated risks in�the region, so it all depends on�us, our strength is not in�what the US does but�in what we do, we determine how it deals with�our issues and not the person sitting in�the White House," Muftah said.

Muftah added that in�his winning speech Trump said that he wanted to�deal with�other nations based on�mutual interests which was a positive thing, however he stressed the importance of�the American dream, which might entail the desire to�expand and control the lands of�others through�the use of�power.

Muftah acknowledged that it was still too early to�predict Trump's foreign policies at�the moment.
