A Look at Iranian Newspaper Front Pages on November 9

Iran Front Page- The US elections and its results were the main headline in many newspapers today. The majority of them have referred to the possible victory of Hillary Clinton based on early results.

Another top story was Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarifs visit to Lebanon and his meetings with senior Lebanese officials including Secretary General of Hezbollah Hassan Nasrallah.

The gas deal between Iran, France, and China for development of South Pars Gas Field also received great coverage.

Newspapers also covered the governments reaction to yesterdays remarks by Judiciary Chief about the contradictory remarks by President Hassan Rouhani about freedom of press. Rouhani had criticized the Judiciary for its actions against newspapers, but the Judiciary Chief Ayatollah Sadeq Amoli Larijani later revealed that Rouhani has in many cases complained to the Leader Ayatollah Khamenei about the Judiciarys inaction in countering certain newspapers. Now, the Government Spokesman Mohammad Baqer Nobakht says Rouhani is an advocate of freedom of press and speech, but the government is opposed to freedom of insult and lie.

The above issues, as well as many more, are highlighted in the following headlines:
