IRNA � Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif said on Monday that Iran stands by Lebanon and is willing to expand economic cooperation with the Lebanese government.


He made the remarks upon his arrival at Beirut airport.

Zarif told reporters that the Islamic Republic of Iran appreciates resolve of the Lebanese people and media to elect General Michel Aoun as president of Lebanon.

He said that the Lebanese people with election of the president election found the opportunity to determine fate of their country future by their own.

Zarif said that persistence of the Lebanese people and resistance movement will impose a heavy defeat on terrorists and extremists.
